The West Riding Track League is back for 2021 running grass track racing in the middle of Roundhay Park on the historic grass velodrome that surrounds the cricket oval. This is where Tom Pidcock and Lizzie Deignan cut their track teeth along with many other pro riders.
After the first week riders are put into ability groups not age groups. The youngest riders do at least three shorter events, with longer ones including a devil for the fastest of the Under 12 riders. Under 14s and older will take part in at least 5 events over the evening to include sprints, handicaps, devils and longer races with some separate races for women and girls depending on numbers.
Our first event is on the 10th May 2021 at Roundhay Park Cricket Oval, Park Avenue, Leeds LS8 2JL. All entries are now online only with no entry on the day. The closing date for each event will be the Thursday before the event the following Monday to allow time for the programme to be prepared. Please book early if possible as it helps in managing events.
Under 12 races are all Go Ride with no day licences for non BC members. All other races with attract BC points once the current embargo is lifted (Due to be lifted in May). Usual rules regarding race licences apply but all the league events only require a provisional race licence or pay a day licence. Regional Fixed Champs require a full racing licence.
Programmes will be emailed out by Sunday afternoon.
If an event is cancelled due to the weather, then refunds will be made. Notifications of cancellations etc will be on this Facebook site and on our website as soon as we know.
More details about bike requirements etc are on our website. Under 8/10/12 can ride any bike with off road tyres as long as they have brakes and are in good working condition, Under 14/16 and adults must have a fixed wheel track bike with off road tyres. A Slick road tyres are not allowed for safety reasons.
We do have some track bikes to hire.
